*Food - How my diet has changed

In January 2020 I wrote a fake review of my book, in my book. It reflected my utter confusion about the whole diet topic.

“Over a 4.5 year journey Irene will show you how she successfully managed to gain weight while writing a diet book, no easy feat.  Her success has extended to her health which she easily manifested aggressive breast cancer and another chronic disease with strong chance of death within 5 years.  Irene’s informative book also cleverly weaves in her overweight dogs journey which shows how she managed to maintain the dogs chunky physique with provision of constant snacks to the point where the dog sometimes finds it hard to jump up on the lounge.  This is a literary masterpiece.  A must read!  The book will teach you how Irene waded through Google, Netflix, natural practitioners and doctors for a final outcome of having no idea what to eat and actually how to become completely pessimistic about nearly every single food choice you could have to the point where a life fast seems like your only option.”

You have to admit, it is a confusing subject. Do you go Vegan, Paleo, Calorie Controlled, Keto, Low Fat, High Fat blah blah blah blah blah bloody blah. I made the spiritual mistake of focusing on something too intently. Focusing on an outcome, holding on with iron grip! The more I went down that rabbit hole the sicker I became. Trying to prove there is “one correct diet” is, in my opinion, a waste of time. I now believe that there are many good diet options for humans but, unfortunately, I don’t think a diet full of donuts and ice-cream is one of them.

I want to be clear that my posts are based on my experience driven a lot by synchronicity. It is by no means a “guide of what you should specifically do”. Your journey will be different. I guess this will just show how it all works, a step by step guide, but you will fill in the blanks for your own story. There may be wrong turns. It doesn’t matter. The main thing is that I keep going, towards the goal of wellness without holding onto the result with white knuckled hands. If I am meant to die, so be it, but be sure that I’m not going to lay down and give up without giving it a damn good bash.

When looking at this spiritually I’m moving toward my goal, taking action, increasing energy and momentum and eventually, when the time is right, the outcome will manifest.

I have tried many diets over the last 5 years, from Vegan to Keto and everything in between. From my formal Scleroderma diagnosis on 24th June I have settled on the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol Diet which is, in a nutshell: no grains, no dairy, no nuts, no seeds, no lectins, no eggs, no alcohol, no coffee. I have been fairly rigid with the eating and cheated rarely.

It makes you want to cry, thinking of all the things you can’t have. Seems to be nothing nice at all (I do like doughnuts). Well, stay tuned, the Universe has guided me towards lots of yummy things (and I’m not talking about me suddenly developing an out of the blue love of Kale). I’ll post more about the yummiest stuff as I go.

My weight, at the start of my diet journey in 2015 was around 91kg. I had gone up to nearly 100kg for a while, in the last 5 years, but since 24th June 2020, and eating AIP, I have lost about 4-5kg (presently I’m 87.5kg). Weight is no longer my motivation but I still feel it is worth mentioning from time to time.

Onward and upward!
