*Spirituality - A Smudge too Far
Wow…. oh wow, is all I have to say. What a day. It is nearly 11pm and i’m still full of energy, something that has been sorely lacking for quite some time. The Universe led me on a little journey… to get more information. Boy was it helpful.
While I was away I noticed that someone was selling a 5kg Labradorite crystal on a Facebook buy and sell page close to my home. Normally I see these notifications when other people have already grabbed the item in question. This time it was just posted. It was not cheap… $400, but I knew it had to be mine. The deal was made and it was arranged I would pick up the crystal upon my return from holidays.
I picked up the crystal and was talking to the lady selling it. Her name is Melissa and she does readings and uses the crystals for healing. Sometimes she changes her crystals for others, hence me purchasing the Labradorite from her. Melissa was lovely and told me that she had already cleansed the crystal. I thought I better enquire how to do that - for future reference. I thought you had to run in water or leave out in moonlight. Melissa had another method using a smudge stick of sage, she gave me a little and explained how to do it (in really simple terms). Melissa also told me that you can set intentions for your crystals.
I remembered that I had purchased a smudge stick a few years back, but had never used it. I wouldn’t have known where it was except that Jason moved something the other week and I saw it poking out. I wanted to clear the energy in my office and my new crystal would have the job of helping me with writing creativity and perseverance. I had another large crystal in my office which I would program to be my bookkeeping crystal.
I had a flat piece of driftwood that the smudge stick would sit on, while smoking away. I had tidied the space being smudged (my office). I had written out my prayer and lit my smudge stick. I was ready to go. I wasn’t sure how far you were meant to move the smokey stick so I was poking the driftwood smudge thingy everywhere while repeating:
“I clear all negative energies and entities and limiting beliefs that block me moving forward with my purpose in life. I ask that they are replaced with an abundance of love, joy and prosperity.
I set the intention for this area to be a dual space for either creative writing or bookkeeping and that appropriate energies will come in based on what task I am undertaking. The area will always be calm and peaceful, regardless of what activity is taking place.
And so it is - thank you, thank you, thank you”
Then it was time for the crystals. I smoked the buggers all over, kind of hard with the 5kg one, but I’m pretty sure it was well smoked. I did the big one more to ensure it was well roasted.
While smudging the labradorite: “I now set the intention for this labradorite crystal to be my anchor for my writing creativity and perseverance. And so it is - thank you, thank you, thank you”.
While smudging the Malachite: “I now set the intention for this malachite crystal to be my anchor for my bookkeeping work, helping absorb negative energies and electromagnetic pollution and helping me be incredibly productive when working. And so it is - thank you, thank you, thank you”.
I then decided to do the rest of the house. I hadn’t tidied up, and I kind of think you do it when you are alone and someone isn’t laying on the couch. Hey, what the hell, even if it kind of works at this point it’s better than nothing. Out I went with my burning sage stick laying on a piece of driftwood. I slightly modified the prayer and was walking around the kitchen / dining / lounge room. Jason was just staring at me weirdly. He thinks I’m crazy. That’s ok. I continued on.
I did the kitchen dining area first and then moved to the lounge room. Jason didn’t move, so I decided to smudge him as well. I recall that Melissa had said “if there is a lot of negative energy it will smoke more”. As I was smudging over Jason it started pumping out the smoke. Mmmm I thought, he must be really negative today… then I noticed the window was open behind him and a breeze was blowing on on my smudge stick. Ok, so there is no definitive evidence that Jason required more smudging due to negativity.
I continued on. Down the stairs, into the foyer. Smudging the spare room, the gym room (never used), then I stood at the closed door to Timmy’s room. He was in there playing on the computer. I knocked and entered saying “I’m going to smudge your room”. Timmy looked at me like I was an alien. I was laughing while saying the prayer. I dropped the whole damn stick on his desk and ash went everywhere. No matter, I continued on. As I left Timmy was coughing and complaining about the smoke in his room. He said I made it smell bad (obviously he has no sense of smell as I can tell you the confined, purposefully unventilated, space of a teenager does not smell worse after burning sage than it did before!).
I continued on. I smudged the laundry, it was not tidy. I was standing on the pile of washing on the floor to get those hard to reach places. Could there be negative energies hiding in the corner above the dryer? I did not know. So it was dealt with regardless.
I continued on. Into the bathroom. Do negative entities hang out in the bath and shower recess? I took no chances! It’s now safe to have a shower.
I continued on. The final room. The toilet. I was standing in the loo holding my driftwood and burning smudge stick saying my prayer, turning around and blowing smoke all over the place. Again, not sure how many negative entities hang out in the loo but ours is good now. No one can complain about the smell as we have all seen worse.
With the house protected and all negative energy banished I went upstairs and stood there for a minute thinking what to do next - it was about 1pm. Jason got the idea that the whole process was to clear negative energy and asked, while smirking, if I used a whole stick in Timmy’s room. I just laughed.
All of a sudden I felt like writing, so I wrote the previous post in my blog. I had not felt like writing for over 1.5 months. Then my energy just kept on going. Here is a list of what I achieved since smudging, I can’t believe how much there is:
Wrote previous post in blog for 2 hours.
Took dog to beach for 2 hours.
Went to shops to buy a roast.
Cleaned kitchen / lounge / dining which was quite messy.
Prepared roast dinner while watching a show on tv.
Ate dinner with family.
Went out crabbing by myself for a few hours and caught a crab.
Showered, tidied kitchen a little, dealt with crab.
Have written this post.
Normally, on a Sunday afternoon, I would be laying on the lounge, watching tv with my eyes closed. The above list is unheard of for me. I have to look into smudging some more, as it would appear it can really help clear out stagnant energy and lift everything up.
I can just tell I’m going to annoy the crap out of everyone with my burning leaves from this point on. Such is life, so the story continues.
